Troubleshooting Printer Issues on Qashier POS (Built-in, Wi-Fi, LAN, Bluetooth & USB)

Use this checklist when a printer connected to your Qashier POS stops printing receipts, order chits or labels. It covers the terminal's built-in receipt printer and additional printers connected over Wi-Fi, LAN (Ethernet), Bluetooth or USB.

Applies to: All markets · Qashier POS · Opening Settings on the POS needs the Terminal PIN.

General checks (all printers)

Confirm power and connection

  • Built-in printer: make sure the POS terminal is powered on and working normally.

  • External printer: confirm its power light is on.

  • Wi-Fi printer: the POS and the printer must be on the same Wi-Fi network. LAN printer: the cable must be firmly connected.

Restart the devices

  • Restart the POS terminal, the printer and the router (if you have one). Unplug and reconnect the power cables to reset the connection.

Do a test print

  • Built-in printer: on the POS home screen tap the menu icon (☰) at the top right, then Test in-built printer.

  • External printer (Wi-Fi, LAN, Bluetooth or USB): tap the menu icon (☰), then Test Print (Additional Printer). This option appears only after an additional printer has been added.

  • You can also press and hold the printer's own Feed button to print a self-test slip. That tests the printer alone, not its connection to the POS.

  • If the test print is blank, check the paper direction and make sure you are using thermal paper with the print side facing the print head.

Check the paper roll

  • Make sure the thermal paper is loaded correctly and is not jammed or used up.

  • Use only the supported paper size for your printer (58mm or 80mm, depending on the model).

Update the POS software

  • Contact Qashier Support to check whether an update is available. If one is needed, it is sent to your terminal and a pop-up on the screen asks you to update.

Wi-Fi printer issues

Check that both devices are on the same network

  • On the POS, tap the menu icon (☰) > Wifi to see which network the POS is on.

  • Restart the printer. It prints a small configuration slip. Check the SSID (network name) on the slip.

  • If the POS is on a different network, connect it to the same SSID as the printer.

  • Run a test print or a test transaction to confirm the printer works.

Improve the Wi-Fi signal

  • Move the printer closer to the Wi-Fi router.

  • Keep it away from thick walls, microwave ovens and large metal surfaces.

Check the product tabs assigned to the printer

  1. On the POS, tap the menu icon (☰) > Settings and enter your Terminal PIN.

  2. Tap Printer Settings and select the printer.

  3. Under Product Tabs assigned to this printer for printing, choose the product tabs this printer should print (for example Drinks or Mains), then save.

If the router or Wi-Fi password has changed

Important: check the printer's serial number first

  • Serial number starts with 23 to 26: do not hard reset the printer. It can be set up again without a reset. Its network name is Printer Wifi.

  • Serial number starts with 21 or 22: hard reset the printer before setting it up again (see Part 2 of the setup guide above). Its network name is E250.

LAN (Ethernet) printer issues

  • Check the cable: confirm the Ethernet cable is firmly connected to the printer and to the router or POS.

  • Check the network light: a solid or blinking light on the LAN port means the connection is active. No light means the cable or port is not working.

  • Print a diagnostic slip: turn the printer off, hold the Feed button and turn it back on. Release the button after the beep and wait for the printout.

  • Check the network settings: open the printer's IP address (shown on the diagnostic slip) in a browser and make sure the IP, subnet and gateway match your local network.

Bluetooth printer issues

  • Make sure Bluetooth is turned on on the POS and the printer is powered on and close to the POS.

  • On the POS, tap the menu icon (☰) > Settings > enter your Terminal PIN > Printer Settings, open the printer and tap Scan For Printers to find it again.

USB printer issues

Printer prints, but the output is wrong

  • Receipts or chits go to the wrong printer, or are missing items: check the product tabs assigned to each printer (steps above).

  • Non-English characters print as symbols: if you need two non-English languages on one chit (for example Thai and Chinese), open the printer in Printer Settings and turn on This printer supports UTF-8 mode. This works on Sunmi printers only. For Chinese characters on older kitchen printers, see How to Print Chinese Characters on the Kitchen Printer (Older Units).

Tips for reliable printing

  • Always test print after any change (restart, tab reassignment, reconnection).

  • Keep the printer area clear to avoid overheating and signal interference.
