Give a package an expiry date when you sell it on Qashier POS, so unused sessions cannot be redeemed after a set number of months. This article shows how to set the expiry, where to check it, and what happens when a package has expired.
Applies to: All markets · Qashier POS and QashierHQ · Packages (part of the Qashier Loyalty add-on) with package expiry switched on for the store.
Before you start
Packages must be activated for your store (Qashier Loyalty add-on). See How to Add Features and Manage Your Plan in Qashier Marketplace (QashierHQ).
Package expiry must also be switched on for your store. If you do not see the Package Expiry in Months (0 means no expiry) field on the package screen, contact Qashier Support to switch it on.
Packages cannot be sold when the POS is in kiosk mode.
Set an expiry date when selling a package
Go to POS & Payment, select the product and tap the package icon at the top left of the product sheet.
Choose a package under PREDEFINED PACKAGE or build one under CUSTOMIZED PACKAGE, as described in How to Sell Packages in Qashier POS (Predefined & Customised).
Scroll to the bottom of the package screen and enter the number of months in Package Expiry in Months (0 means no expiry). For example, 1 means the package expires one month from today. Leave it at 0 or blank for no expiry.
Tap Add & Close.
Tap the orange Customer bar, search for the customer, tap Confirm, then tap Pay and complete payment. A customer is required for every package sale.

What you should see
The package appears in the customer's package list with its expiry date. Expired packages show an Expired label. If you tap one, the POS shows the message "Package expired on" followed by the date, and the package cannot be redeemed. In QashierHQ, expired packages are highlighted in red in the customer's Package Information.
Where to check a package's expiry date
On the POS, from the sales screen: go to POS & Payment, tap the package icon at the top right, search for the customer by phone number or name and tap Search. Tap the package: the redeem prompt shows Expiry Date. Tap Cancel if you only want to check the date. On a QashierXL terminal, the expiry date is shown directly as a column in the list.
On the POS, from Customer Management: open Customer Management, find the customer and tap Package List. The Expiry Date column shows each package's date. See How to Check a Customer's Package Balance in Qashier POS.
In QashierHQ: open Customer Management, open the customer and select Package info. The Expiry Date column shows the date, or "No Expiry Date" if none was set.

Good to know
A package with 0 expiry months has no expiry date.
A package expires the set number of months after the date and time it was sold. For example, a 1-month package sold on 15 March at 2pm expires on 15 April at 2pm, and the POS blocks redemption after that time. QashierHQ shows the package as expired from the start of the expiry date.
If you have several stores under the same QashierHQ account, the expiry date is shared across all of them, as long as package expiry is switched on for each store. Contact Qashier Support to switch it on for all your stores.
Sell packages as a separate order from regular items. A customer must be attached before payment, and packages cannot be charged to a table.
If something goes wrong
Symptom | Cause | Fix |
No Package Expiry in Months field on the package screen | Package expiry is not switched on for this store, or the terminal is in kiosk mode | See Before you start |
"Package expired on" message when redeeming | The package has passed its expiry date | The package cannot be redeemed. Sell a new package if needed |
Expiry is enforced at one store but not another | Package expiry is switched on per store | Ask Qashier Support to switch it on for each store |
