[SG/MY] How to Sell Weighed Items with Weighing-Scale Barcode Labels on Qashier POS

Set up the weighing-scale integration so that scanning a scale-printed price label adds the product to the Qashier POS cart at the weighed quantity.

With the weighing-scale integration, your scale prints a price label whose barcode carries both the product code and the weighed quantity. Scan that label on Qashier POS and the product is added to the cart at the right weight, with no manual entry.

Applies to: Singapore, Malaysia · stores that sell items by weight on Qashier POS with a barcode scanner · the weighing scale integration add-on (set up by Qashier). Products must be set up in QashierHQ to sell in decimal quantities.

How the barcode is read

A weighing-scale barcode has four parts, in this order:

  1. Flag code: a fixed prefix that tells the POS this is a scale label and not a normal product barcode.

  2. Product code: a fixed number of digits that must match the product's Barcode in QashierHQ.

  3. Quantity: the weight or count as digits, without a decimal point.

  4. Check digit: the last character, which the POS ignores.

The POS converts the quantity digits using the product's Decimal Places. With 3 decimal places, the digits 01250 become 1.250 (for example 1.250 kg), and the line price is the quantity multiplied by the product's unit price.

Before you start

  • Ask support to enable the weighing scale integration for your store and give them two details from your scale's label format: the flag code and the number of digits in the product code. These settings are configured by Qashier, not in QashierHQ.

  • Connect your barcode scanner. See How to Connect a Barcode Scanner to Your Qashier POS.

  • Program the same product codes and label format into the scale. Your scale supplier can help with this.

Set up each weighed product in QashierHQ

  1. In QashierHQ, open Product Management and edit the product (or create it).

  2. Set Barcode to the product code exactly as the scale prints it, with the same number of digits, including leading zeros.

  3. Tick Quantity in Decimals and set Decimal Places to match the number of decimal digits in the scale's quantity (up to 3). For weights in grams printed as kilograms, that is usually 3.

  4. Set the price as the price per unit that the scale weighs in, for example per kg. See How to Sell Products by Weight or Volume (per kg, per 100 g, per litre).

  5. Save. Wait for the POS to sync, or return to the POS home page to pull the latest settings.

Sell a weighed item on the POS

  1. Weigh the item on the scale and print the label.

  2. On the sales screen of Qashier POS, scan the label.

  3. The product is added to the cart with the weighed quantity. Continue the sale as usual.

What you should see

  • The cart line shows the product with the quantity from the label (for example 1.250) and the price calculated from your unit price.

  • The receipt and Transaction Record show the same quantity and amount.

What to do

Item not found or Item barcode not found, please scan again after scanning

The product code on the label does not match the product's Barcode, the number of product-code digits set for your store is wrong, or the label's prefix does not match the flag code set for your store (the POS then looks up the whole label as a normal barcode)

Compare the digits on the label with the product in QashierHQ and check the scale's label format against the flag code and digit count you gave support; if they differ from what was set up, contact support

The product opens the add-item sheet instead of going straight into the cart

The scanned code is the product's normal barcode, not a scale label, so no weight was read

Scan the label printed by the scale, not the product's own barcode

The quantity is 10 or 100 times too big or too small

Decimal Places on the product does not match the scale's format

Adjust Decimal Places in QashierHQ

Nothing happens when you scan

The scanner is not connected or not in the right mode

A second scan of the same label is ignored

The POS ignores an identical scan within half a second

Wait a moment and scan again, or change the quantity in the cart
