Assign an ingredient to a product with a Deduct Ratio so that every time the product is sold on Qashier POS, the right amount of that ingredient is deducted from stock automatically. This is for F&B merchants who use Ingredient Management in QashierHQ.
Applies to
Markets: All markets
Product: QashierHQ (hq.qashier.com)
Plan or add-on: Ingredient Management must be enabled for your store
Access: a QashierHQ login with access to Inventory / Ingredient
Before you start
Create your ingredients first. See How to Add, Edit and Delete Ingredients in QashierHQ.
Make sure the products you want to link exist in Product Management and are not archived. Archived products, and products in archived categories, do not appear in the assign list.
If the Ingredient tab shows an introduction page with an Activate, Compare plans or I'm interested! button, Ingredient Management is not enabled for your store yet.
What the Deduct Ratio means
The Deduct Ratio is how much of the ingredient one unit of the product uses. It is measured in the ingredient's own unit, which is shown next to the field. For each item sold, Qashier deducts quantity sold × Deduct Ratio.
Example: the ingredient Coffee Beans has the unit gram. You assign it to Latte with a Deduct Ratio of 18. Selling 2 Lattes deducts 36 g of Coffee Beans.
Decimals are allowed, down to 0.001.
Negative numbers are not allowed.
Entering 0 removes the ingredient from the product.
Assign one ingredient to a product
Log in to QashierHQ. In the left menu, under Products & Inventory, click Inventory / Ingredient.
Click the Ingredient tab and select your store at the top of the page.
Click the ingredient name. A panel opens on the right.
In the panel header, click Assign Ingredient (the basket icon). The Assign List dialog opens with a Search box and the columns Product Name, Category Name and Deduct Ratio.
Search for the product, or find it in the list, and click it. A small dialog shows Assigning <ingredient> to <product>.
Under Please enter the deduct ratio, type the Deduct Ratio. The ingredient's unit is shown next to the field.
Click Confirm.
Repeat steps 5 to 7 for every product that uses this ingredient.
Change a Deduct Ratio
Open the ingredient's Assign List as above.
Click the product again. The current ratio is filled in.
Type the new number and click Confirm.
Unassign an ingredient from a product
Under Products & Inventory, click Inventory / Ingredient, then the Ingredient tab, and select your store.
Click the ingredient you want to remove from a product.
In the panel header, click Assign Ingredient.
Search for, or click, the product you want to unassign the ingredient from.
Click Unassign. Unassign is only clickable for products that already use this ingredient. Entering 0 and clicking Confirm does the same thing.
Assign several ingredients to one product (Product View)
Use Product View when you want to build the full recipe for one product.
On the Ingredient tab, click Product View at the top of the page.
Use Search product name to find the product. Each row shows the product's Category, its Ingredient list, each Deduct ratio and each Unit.
Click + Assign on the product's row, pick the ingredient under Select ingredient to assign, enter the ratio under Input deduct ratio and click OK.
To change a ratio, click the underlined number in the Deduct ratio column, type the new value and save.
To remove an ingredient from the product, click x next to it and click Confirm in the Confirm Delete dialog. This cannot be undone, but you can assign the ingredient again.
What you should see
In the Assign List, the product now shows a number in the Deduct Ratio column. Products that do not use the ingredient show -.
In Product View, the ingredient is listed under the product with its ratio and unit.
From the next sale on Qashier POS, the ingredient's In Stock figure goes down by quantity sold × Deduct Ratio. You can see each deduction in the ingredient's Stock history.
If you use Chain Store Management, see How Ingredient Management Works with Chain Store Management (Multi-Store) for how assignments and stock behave across outlets.
