Static vs Dynamic QR Ordering: Which One Should I Use?

QR ordering lets dine-in customers scan a QR code at their table, browse your menu on their phone and send their order straight to your Qashier POS. There are two modes: Static QR (one fixed QR code per table) and Dynamic QR (a new QR code printed each time you open a table). This article compares them so you can choose the right one.

Applies to: All markets · QashierHQ and Qashier POS · Table Management with QR ordering.

Which QR ordering do you have? This comparison is for QR ordering set up in QashierHQ under Settings > Additional Settings > Table Management. If your QashierHQ sidebar shows Products & Inventory > Mobile Ordering, your QR codes, payment options and takeaway QR are managed there instead. See How to Set Up Mobile Ordering (Treats Ordering) in QashierHQ.

Static QR vs Dynamic QR

Static QR

Dynamic QR

What is it?

A fixed QR code for each table. It never changes, so you print it once and place it on the table.

A new QR code is printed for each new group of customers when you open their table on the POS.

Where do I get the QR code?

Download it in advance from QashierHQ: Table Management > Edit Mode > Download Table QR Codes. See How to Download Static Table QR Codes in QashierHQ.

You cannot download it in advance. Each time you open a table, the POS shows a new QR code; tap Print to print it.

What do staff do on the POS?

Open (activate) the table before the customers order.

Open the table and hand the printed QR code to the customers.

What happens after scanning?

The customer is taken to your store's online ordering page (QashierEats), chooses items and places the order. The order is added to that table's bill on the POS.

The same as Static QR: the customer orders on your online ordering page (QashierEats), and the order is added to that table's bill on the POS.

Can customers pay through the QR code?

No. Staff take payment on the POS by selecting the table.

No. Staff take payment on the POS by selecting the table.

Does the QR code change or expire?

No. The code stays the same. It stops accepting orders when the table is paid, voided or all its items are moved to another table, and works again when you reopen the table.

Yes. Each code belongs to one table visit and stops working once the bill is paid. Lost the printout? Reprint it from the table on the POS.

Which one should I use?

  • Choose Static QR if your tables are fixed and you want to print the codes once and leave them on the tables.

  • Choose Dynamic QR if you want each group of customers to get their own code that only works for their visit.

How to turn on QR ordering

  1. In QashierHQ, click Settings (top right), then Additional Settings > Table Management.

  2. Make sure Enable Table Management Feature is ticked.

  3. Tick Enable QR Ordering to make self ordering.

  4. Choose Dynamic: Print a new QR for every order or Static: One QR or one table.
