How to Connect a Bluetooth Printer to Qashier POS

Pair a Bluetooth receipt or kitchen printer with Qashier POS from Settings > Printer Settings, set the paper width and which tabs print on it, and run a test print.

Summary: You can pair a Bluetooth receipt or kitchen printer with Qashier POS yourself, from the POS, in a few minutes. On the POS, Bluetooth is the only printer type you can add yourself; Wi-Fi/LAN and USB printers are added in QashierHQ or with help from support. This article walks through the pairing, the paper-width setting and a test print.

Applies to: All markets · Qashier POS (any terminal) · all plans · you need the Terminal PIN to open Settings.

Before you start

  • Use a printer that supports the ESC/POS command set. Printers Qashier has tested are listed in Compatible Bluetooth Printers and How to Connect Them to Qashier POS.

  • Charge the printer, load thermal paper and switch it on. Keep it within a metre or two of the POS while pairing.

  • If the printer is already paired with a phone or another tablet, unpair it there first so the POS can find it.

  • Have the printer's pairing code ready if its manual lists one.

  • The POS uses location permission to scan for Bluetooth devices. If it asks, tap Allow location permission.

  • A POS can hold up to six additional printers, and you can add one Bluetooth printer per POS. In QashierHQ only Additional Printer 1 can be a Bluetooth or USB printer; the others are Wi-Fi or LAN.

Steps

  1. On the POS main screen tap ☰ at the top right, then Settings, and enter the Terminal PIN.

  2. Tap Printer Settings.

  3. Tap Add Additional Printer at the bottom of the page. If you have not added a printer before, the page shows Add Additional Printer with a short explanation instead; tap Add.

  4. Under Printer Type choose Bluetooth. (Choosing Wifi, Ethernet/LAN or USB shows Contact us for setup assistance instead; tap I WANT TO SET UP A NEW PRINTER to chat with support.)

  5. Tap Scan For Printers. The screen reminds you: Make sure the printer is switched on.

  6. The Bluetooth Printer Nearby screen shows Scanning… and then the printers it finds. If it says No devices found., check the printer and tap Scan Again.

  7. Tap your printer. The POS connects to it and fills in Printer MAC Address. If your terminal asks for a pairing code, type the code from the printer's manual.

  8. Under Paper Width the POS selects 80mm first; choose 57mm or 80mm to match the paper roll in the printer. Tap the info icon next to Paper Width if you are unsure.

  9. Choose what the printer prints. If this is your first additional printer, Set this printer to print main receipt is switched on, so customer receipts print here; switch it off if you do not want that. Under Product Tabs assigned to this printer for printing, all tabs are selected at first; keep only the tabs whose order chits should print here (for example Kitchen or Bar). You can also set Order chit quantity and turn on Enable 1 item : 1 order chit printing or Enable 1 quantity : 1 order chit printing.

  10. Tap Save.

What you should see

  • The printer is listed under Printer Settings as Additional Printer 1 (or the next free number).

  • On the main screen tap ☰ > Test Print. A test chit prints on the Bluetooth printer. See How to Do a Test Print on Qashier POS (Built-in and Additional Printers).

  • Make a sale that includes an item from an assigned tab. The order chit prints on the Bluetooth printer; the receipt prints there too if Set this printer to print main receipt is switched on.

  • In QashierHQ (Settings > Printer Settings > Additional Printer Settings) the printer shows with Printer Type Bluetooth and the note "Please set up bluetooth printer via POS". You cannot edit it there; make changes on the POS.

Changing or removing the printer

  • To swap to a different Bluetooth printer, open the printer under Printer Settings, tap Rescan and change bluetooth printer, pick the new one and tap Save.

  • To remove it, go to QashierHQ Settings > Printer Settings > Additional Printer Settings, open the printer, click Delete, type delete and click Confirm. The POS has no delete option; you can also ask support.
