Summary: Discount Management is the QashierHQ page where you create preset discounts that your staff apply on Qashier POS. This article explains the types of discount you will meet in Qashier, what each setting on the page does, how a product that is excluded from discounts behaves at the till, and where discounts show up in your reports.

The types of discount in Qashier

The Discount Management page
In QashierHQ open Products & Inventory > Discount Management. The page lists every preset discount for the selected store.
Create New Discount opens the create form (see below).
Search finds a discount by title. Filter narrows the list by Trigger Type (Automatic or Manual) and Discount Type (% OFF, $ OFF, Special Price, Free Gift(s)).
The options All, Ongoing, Upcoming and Expired show discounts by their dates.
Each row shows Discount Title, Start Date, End Date, the day and time window (or All Days and Time), Trigger Type and Discount Type.
Under More Actions, open the menu (the three dots) to End Early (stop an ongoing discount straight away) or Delete it. To change a discount, open it with the pencil icon. See How to Edit, End Early or Delete a Preset Discount in QashierHQ.
What each setting in the create form means
Discount Title (required) is the name staff see on the POS and customers see on the receipt. Discount Description is optional.
Discount Availability: keep All Dates, or untick it and set a Start Date and End Date. Keep All Days and Time, or untick it and choose the days of the week with a Start Time and End Time for each. Outside this window the discount does not appear on the POS.
Configure Discount Settings > Trigger Type: Manual. Staff choose the discount at the till.
They Get: % OFF or $ OFF, then type the number under Enter Discount Value. The currency follows your store.
For: Specific Product(s) or Total Bill. With Specific Product(s), tap the add button, tick the products in the Apply discount condition list and tap Confirm. The form shows how many products are selected.
Tap Create New. The discount reaches the POS the next time it syncs.

Products that are excluded from discounts
A product can be flagged so that item and bill discounts do not apply to it, for example tobacco, deposits or items already at cost. Once a product is excluded:
When staff add it to a sale on the POS, the item-level discount list is not shown, so neither a preset nor a custom item discount can be added.
When a bill discount is applied, the excluded product keeps its full price and the discount is spread over the other items only. When the sale is paid, the product name on the receipt ends with "(discount excl.)".
It is also left out of the product list when you build a Specific Product(s) discount in QashierHQ.
The exclusion applies to all item and bill discounts at once; you cannot exclude a product from one discount only. Promotion buckets use their own product list and are not affected by the exclusion. What you should see
On Qashier POS, the preset discount is listed by its title when staff open the bill discount or tap a product it applies to, during the dates and times you set.
On the receipt, the discount title and amount appear under the item or under the subtotal.

If something goes wrong
