A modifier set is a group of add-on choices (for example, a "Scoops" set with Vanilla, Mint and Pistachio) that you attach to products. In QashierHQ you can rename a set, limit how many modifiers a cashier must or can pick, allow the same modifier to be picked more than once, and mark the whole set as sold out. This article shows where these settings are and how each one behaves on Qashier POS.

Before you start

Create the modifier set and its modifiers first: How to Create Modifier Sets and Modifiers in QashierHQ.
Assign the set to the categories or products that need it: How to Assign Modifiers to Categories and Products in QashierHQ.

Open the Edit Modifier Set dialog

Log in to QashierHQ. In the left menu, under Products & Inventory, click Product Management.
If you have more than one store, choose the store in the Store picker.
Click Modifiers at the top of the page.
Find the modifier set and click the pencil icon on its chip. The Edit Modifier Set dialog opens.
Change the settings described below, then click Confirm.

To rename the set, edit Modifier Set Name in the same dialog and click Confirm. The new name applies everywhere the set is used.

Setting 1: Set limit for modifiers

Tick Set limit for modifiers to show two fields:

Minimum Quantity – the fewest modifiers the cashier must pick from this set. If set to 0, the set is optional.
Maximum Quantity – the most modifiers the cashier can pick. If set to 0, there is no maximum.

On the POS, the rule shows next to the set name, for example Scoops (Choose 1 to 3), Scoops (Choose at least 1) or Scoops (Choose up to 3). There are four scenarios.

No limit

Leave Set limit for modifiers unticked. The cashier can pick any number of modifiers from the set, or none at all.

Minimum only

Set Minimum Quantity to 1 or more and leave Maximum Quantity at 0. The cashier must pick at least that many modifiers before the item can be added. If they pick fewer, the POS shows a prompt asking them to complete the modifier conditions.

Maximum only

Leave Minimum Quantity at 0 and set Maximum Quantity. The cashier can pick up to that many modifiers. Once the maximum is reached, the POS does not let them pick more.

Minimum and maximum

Set both fields. The cashier must pick at least the minimum and no more than the maximum before the item can be added to the order.

Example: you sell a three-scoop ice cream. Set Minimum Quantity to 1 and Maximum Quantity to 3. On the POS the set shows as Scoops (Choose 1 to 3): the customer must choose at least one flavour and at most three. If the customer wants the same flavour twice (for example 2x Vanilla + 1x Mint = 3 scoops), also tick Allow to select same modifier more than once (Setting 2). Repeated picks count towards the maximum.

Setting 2: Allow to select same modifier more than once

In Edit Modifier Set, tick Allow to select same modifier more than once and click Confirm.
On the POS, tap the modifier once to add it.
Tap it again to add one more. The tile shows the count (2x, 3x and so on).
Tap the minus button on the tile to reduce the count by one.

If the set has a maximum, repeated picks count towards it. Once the total across the set reaches the maximum, tapping a selected modifier again clears it back to zero instead of adding one. If the box is unticked, tapping a selected modifier again does nothing; use the minus button to remove it.

Setting 3: Mark as sold out

Tick Mark as sold out and click Confirm. In QashierHQ, the set's chip shows a red Sold Out Indefinitely badge. You may also see Sold Out Till Tomorrow on sets that were marked sold out for the day.

On the POS, the modifier set still shows, but every option in it carries a Sold Out stamp, is greyed out and cannot be selected until you untick Mark as sold out.

To mark a single modifier as sold out instead of the whole set, open that modifier (see the next section) and tick Mark as sold out there.

Edit a single modifier

In the Modifiers window, select the modifier set on the left, then click the modifier. The Edit Modifier dialog opens.
Change what you need: the name and price, the Modifier Set it belongs to, its POS Display Order, Mark as sold out, or the Assigned Categories.
Click Confirm.

Reorder or export modifiers

To change the order shown on the POS, click Change Sequence, drag the items into place, then click Confirm Sequence.
To download your modifier list, click Export Modifier.

If something goes wrong

Message or symptom	Cause	Fix
"You must provide a minimum or maximum quantity if limits are enabled"	Set limit for modifiers is ticked but both fields are 0.	Enter a minimum, a maximum, or both. Or untick Set limit for modifiers.
"The minimum amount cannot be more than the maximum amount"	The minimum is higher than the maximum.	Lower the minimum or raise the maximum (0 = no maximum).
"Please add N modifiers or more to use this minimum quantity"	The set has fewer modifiers than the minimum you entered.	Add more modifiers to the set, or lower the minimum. Ticking Allow to select same modifier more than once lets a small set meet a higher minimum.
The POS asks the cashier to complete the modifier conditions	Fewer than the minimum were picked.	Pick more modifiers, or lower the minimum in QashierHQ.
Modifier options look greyed out on the POS	The set or the option is marked sold out.	Untick Mark as sold out on the set or on the modifier.
Changes do not show on the POS	The POS has not refreshed yet.	Wait a moment or return to the POS home screen and open the product again. If it still does not update, contact Qashier Support.

How to Edit a Modifier Set in QashierHQ (Limits, Repeat Selection, Sold Out)
