How to Split a Bill Into Parts in Qashier POS

Split one bill into up to 10 parts by amount, so each person can pay their part separately with any payment method.

Applies to: All markets · Qashier POS.

This splits a bill by amount. To split a table order by item, see How to Split a Table Bill by Item in Qashier POS.

Example: two friends have a bill of 50.00 and want to pay 25.00 each.

Split a bill

  1. Go to POS & Payment.

  2. Add the items to the cart, then tap Pay to open the payment page.

  3. Tap Split at the top left of the payment page.

  4. Tap + or - to set the number of parts, for example the number of people sharing the bill.

  5. Check the amount of each part. The bill is split equally by default. To split unevenly, tap a part's amount and type a new value. Tap Split Equally to reset. The parts must add up to the bill total; if they add up to more, the POS shows Exceed by and the extra amount.

  6. Tap Make Payment.

  7. Select the first part, then the payment method the customer chooses.

  8. Tap Confirm to take payment for that part.

  9. On the result screen, tap Back, or wait for the countdown (for example Back (45 S)), to return to the payment page.

  10. The status of that part changes from Not Paid to Paid.

  1. Select the next part and its payment method, then tap Confirm.

  2. Repeat until every part is paid. After the last part, tap Back or wait for the countdown to return to the POS page.

Important things to note

Topic

What to know

General

  • You can split a transaction into a maximum of 10 parts.

  • After the split it is still one transaction, so the receipt number stays the same.

  • You can undo the split as long as no part has been paid. Once at least one part is paid, the whole transaction must be paid before you can go to other pages on the POS.

  • You can't split a bill after a tip has been entered.

  • Split is not available when you are paying an invoice, or when the whole bill is paid by redemption.

Payment methods

  • Staff ENT and Invoice are not available when paying split parts.

  • Each part paid by cash has its own cash rounding.

  • If a customer's credit balance is lower than the bill, the POS offers Split bill and continue: the customer pays part with credit and the rest by another method.

Receipts and e-receipts

  • After each part is paid, the printed receipt (or e-receipt) covers only that part.

  • If auto-print is on, the POS may also print a combined full receipt after the last part is paid.

  • You can reprint the full receipt at any time from Transaction Record > Print Receipt.

Points

  • Points for the whole transaction go to the customer selected on the POS page, however the bill is split.

  • Points are awarded when the last part is paid.

Void

  • Voiding cancels the entire transaction. You can't void a single part.

  • How each payment is returned depends on its payment method. See How to Void or Refund a Transaction in Qashier POS. Refund cash and other manual payment methods to the customer yourself.

Transaction records

  • The Unpaid filter in Transaction Record on Qashier POS (and on the Transactions page in QashierHQ) shows split-bill transactions that are only partly paid (at least one part paid).

Reports

  • The Sales Information table has an Unpaid Transaction(s) row for partly paid split-bill transactions.

  • The sale is added to Total Sales, Gross Sales and Net Sales only once it is fully paid.
