How to Set Up and Use the F&B Pager (Buzzer) System

The F&B pager (buzzer) system lets you hand a numbered pager to a customer and buzz it when their order is ready. Qashier POS records the pager number on each order and prints it on the receipt and order chit, so your team knows which pager to call.

Applies to: Singapore and Thailand (pager kits sold by Qashier; ask your local support agent about other markets) · Qashier POS and QashierHQ · Turning on the pager prompt needs a QashierHQ login with access to Settings; changing the popup on the POS needs the Terminal PIN.

How it works: the pager kit is a standalone system. Qashier POS only records the pager number and shows it on the receipt and order chit. It does not buzz the pager. You call the customer from the pager base.

What's in the box

  • Power plug x 1

  • Pager base (transmitter) x 1

  • Pagers x 20 in the Singapore kit (the Thailand kit has 16)

Step 1: Set up and charge the pagers

  1. Plug the power cable into the pager base, on the antenna side.

  2. Place each pager on the base so its metal contacts touch the contacts on the base. The pagers charge while they sit on the base.

Step 2: Turn on the pager prompt in QashierHQ

This setting is per store and is off by default.

  1. Log in to QashierHQ and click the Settings (gear) icon at the top right. On a phone, open your profile menu and choose Settings.

  2. Click Additional Settings.

  3. Choose the outlet in the store picker at the top.

  4. In the list on the left, click F&B Settings.

  5. Tick Enable Pager. The change saves on its own and QashierHQ shows Successfully updated F&B Settings.

Tip: if your store uses queue numbers, the same switch also appears as Enter Pager Number on POS under Settings > Basic Settings > Queue & Pager. Ticking either one turns the prompt on.

Give the POS a few minutes to pick up the setting. If the prompt does not appear, restart the Qashier POS app.

Step 3 (optional): Customise the pager popup on the POS

By default the popup is titled Pager Number, says Please enter the pager number (leave it blank to skip), and lets staff skip it. You can change all three from Qashier POS. The change is saved to the store, so it applies to every terminal in that store.

  1. On the POS, tap the ☰ menu, then Settings. Enter the Terminal PIN if asked.

  2. Tap POS Settings and scroll to the Pager section.

  3. Turn on Pager Number Compulsory if staff must always enter a number before taking payment.

  4. Edit Pager Popup Title and Pager Popup Message if you want different wording.

  5. Tap Save. The POS shows Store settings saved.

Step 4: Use the pagers during service

  1. Ring up the order on the POS as usual.

  2. Tap the payment method. The Pager Number popup appears.

  3. Type the number of the pager you are handing to the customer (digits only, up to 8) and tap Confirm.

  4. Complete the payment and hand the pager to the customer.

  5. When the order is ready, call that pager number from the keypad on the pager base. Follow the pager kit's own instructions for the exact key sequence.

Skipping the number: if Pager Number Compulsory is off, leave the box blank and tap Confirm to skip. If it is on, the POS shows Please enter a number until you type one. Tap Cancel to go back to the payment methods.

What you should see

The number prints on the receipt and on the order chit as Pager Number: 12 (for pager 12). With Enable Pager off, the POS shows no popup at all.

If something goes wrong

Symptom

Likely cause

Fix

No pager popup appears on the POS

Enable Pager is off for this store, or the POS has not synced the setting yet

In QashierHQ, check the setting for the correct outlet in the store picker. Wait a few minutes, then restart the Qashier POS app.

The POS shows Please enter a number when staff try to skip

Pager Number Compulsory is on

Enter a number, or turn the switch off under ☰ > Settings > POS Settings > Pager.

A pager does not buzz

The pager is not charged, is out of range, or the base has no power

Charge the pager on the base, check the base's power cable, and move closer to the base.

The receipt shows no pager number

The box was left blank and skipped

The number prints only when it was entered. Turn on Pager Number Compulsory if this keeps happening.
