Summary: This article explains how Qashier POS works out the price of a combo (set meal or bundle), how that price is split across the items inside it for your reports, and how the optional combo barcode-scanning flow works on the POS.

Before you start

Create the combo first: How to Create a Combo (Set Meal or Bundle) in QashierHQ. A combo has a Combo Price and one or more Combo Sections (for example Noodles, Drinks), each with the products the customer can choose from.

How the price the customer pays is calculated

Start with the Combo Price you set in QashierHQ (Product Management > your combo category > Add Combo).
Add the additional price of each product the customer picks. You set it per product in the Additional Price Per Quantity column when you add products to a combo section with Add/Edit Product. A product with an additional price shows the amount with a "+" in front, for example "+ $0.50", on the section chip in QashierHQ and next to the product on the POS.
Add any modifiers chosen on the combo items.

Example. Combo Price 12.00. Section "Noodles": Laksa (à la carte 10.00, no additional price). Section "Drinks": Iced Tea (à la carte 3.00, additional price 0.50). The customer picks Laksa and Iced Tea and pays 12.00 + 0.50 = 12.50.

How the combo price is split across the items (what reports show)

For reports, the POS spreads the Combo Price over the chosen items in proportion to their à la carte prices, then adds each item's additional price on top:

Item share = (item's à la carte price ÷ total à la carte price of all chosen items) × Combo Price.
The last item takes whatever is left, so the shares always add up exactly to the Combo Price (no 0.01 differences).

Same example. Total à la carte price = 10.00 + 3.00 = 13.00. Laksa share = 10.00 ÷ 13.00 × 12.00 = 9.23. Iced Tea share = 12.00 − 9.23 = 2.77, plus its 0.50 additional price = 3.27. Total 9.23 + 3.27 = 12.50.

This is why, in the Full Report in QashierHQ, the Sales by Product and Sales by Category figures for an item sold inside a combo are lower than its à la carte price. The report shows the note "Product Sales Information for Combo are weighted based on the combo price. Please note that this price would be different from the regular price of the ala carte product." The Sales By Combo report shows each combo's own figures: Quantity Sold, Gross Sales, Total Cost and Total Profit.

Discounts on combos

A discount on a combo cannot be larger than the combo price; the POS shows "Discount cannot be higher than combo price".

Scanning combo items with a barcode scanner

If your products carry barcodes, the POS can require the cashier to scan one product for each section before the combo goes into the cart. This prevents the wrong items being packed into a combo. Ask support to switch on combo scanning for your store; there is no switch in QashierHQ.

On the POS, go to POS & Payment and tap the combo category, then the combo.
The Scan Combo Products window opens. It lists the Sections to scan (for example "Noodles and Drinks") and the Scanned items so far.
Scan the product for each section with your barcode scanner. Each valid scan moves that section from Sections to scan to Scanned items, for example "Iced Tea (Drinks)".
Scanned the wrong item? Tap the X next to it and scan again.
When every section has a scanned product, the combo is added to the cart automatically and a confirmation message appears. Continue the sale as usual.
Tap Cancel to stop without adding the combo.

While combo scanning is on, tapping a combo opens the scan window instead of the usual combo selection screen. Every section has to be completed by scanning, and modifiers or notes for the combo items are not asked for. Only products that have a barcode can be scanned, so make sure every product in the combo's sections has a barcode before you ask for combo scanning.

What you should see

The cart, receipt and Transaction Record show the combo with each chosen item beneath it and any "+" additional price.
In QashierHQ, Sales By Combo shows the combo totals; Sales by Product shows each item's weighted share.

If something goes wrong

Symptom	Likely cause	What to do
"Combo is empty, please config combo first"	The combo has no sections, or its sections have no products available	In QashierHQ open the combo, add products to every section and confirm.
"Scanned product is not part of this combo"	The barcode does not belong to any product in this combo's sections	Scan a product from a section still listed under Sections to scan.
"Section "…" already has a scanned product"	You scanned a second product for a section that is already done	Scan a product for a section still listed under Sections to scan, or tap the X next to the scanned item to replace it.
A section cannot be completed by scanning	The product the customer wants has no barcode	Tap Cancel. Add a barcode to the product in QashierHQ, or contact support to turn combo scanning off.
Scanner types into the search box instead of the scan window	The Scan Combo Products window is not open	Tap the combo first, then scan.
Product sales in the report look lower than the menu price	The item was sold inside a combo, so it carries a weighted share of the combo price	Expected. Use Sales By Combo for combo totals.
"Something went wrong, please add combo again"	The combo could not be built	Remove it and add it again; if it repeats, contact support.
