[SG] How to Take a Card Instalment Plan (IPP) Payment in Qashier POS

Take a credit-card instalment plan (IPP) payment on Qashier POS in Singapore: what you need, the steps, what the receipt shows and how payouts work.

Card instalment plans (IPP) let a customer pay for a purchase with their credit card in monthly instalments. This guide is for Singapore merchants who take card payments through QashierPay.

Applies to: Singapore · Qashier POS with QashierPay card payments · IPP must be switched on for your account by Qashier. This article covers Singapore only.

Before you start

  • Your store accepts card payments through QashierPay. If not, see How to Apply for QashierPay Payment Services in QashierHQ.

  • Instalment plans have been enabled on your account. If you do not see an instalment option on the payment screen, contact support to request it.

  • The customer pays with a credit card from a participating bank. Plans are available for Standard Chartered Visa and Mastercard and for Trust Bank Visa, with tenures of 6, 12 or 24 months. The bank decides whether the card qualifies.

  • The sale must meet the minimum amount for instalments. If it is too small, take a regular card payment instead.

Steps

  1. Ring up the sale on Qashier POS as usual and tap Pay.

  2. On the payment method screen, tap the instalment tile. It sits beside the regular card tile and only appears when instalments are enabled for your store.

  3. Hand the transaction to the card terminal. Follow the prompts on the terminal to choose the instalment plan (bank programme and number of months), then let the customer tap or insert their card and enter their PIN if asked. If no plan is offered (for example, the sale is below the instalment minimum or the card does not qualify), cancel and take a regular card payment instead.

  4. Wait for the approval. The POS completes the sale and prints the receipt.

What you should see

  • The receipt shows the plan as a separate line, for example Visa Instalment Plan (Total: $600.00) or SC Instalment Plan (Total: $600.00), followed by Monthly Payment, Tenure (in months) and Fees when the terminal returns them.

  • On the POS, Transaction Record lists the payment as an instalment plan rather than a plain card payment.

  • In QashierHQ Transactions, the payment method shows as Instalment. Open the transaction to see the plan (for example, Visa Instalment Plan) with its Monthly Payment and Tenure.

  • For when instalment sales are paid out to you, see [SG] When Will I Receive My Payouts? Settlement & Payout Schedule.

  • Instalment transactions have their own processing rate, which depends on the bank and the tenure. Your rates are in your QashierPay agreement; contact support if you are unsure what applies to you.

Voids and refunds

Void an instalment payment the same way as a regular card payment: see How to Void or Refund a Card Payment (QashierPay) in Qashier POS. If the terminal declines the void, contact support with the receipt number.
