Set up your Qashier Soundbox in QashierHQ so it displays the right QR code and announces payments the way you want: link the device by its serial number, set the display name (Malaysia) and choose the announcement language. This guide is for Singapore and Malaysia merchants.

Before you start
Have the Soundbox with you. The serial number is on the label on the back of the device.

Open Soundbox Settings
Log in to QashierHQ.
Click the gear (Settings) icon at the top right. On a phone, tap your name at the top right, then Settings.
Under Devices, open Soundbox Settings.
A red dot on Settings means a Soundbox is still missing its serial number.
Select the Soundbox
Under Store, pick the store the Soundbox belongs to.
Under SoundBox Store, pick the Soundbox you want to configure. Each Soundbox is its own Soundbox store, which is how it is shown in QashierHQ reports.
Set the display name (Malaysia only)
Terminal Display Name is the name shown on the Soundbox screen.
Malaysia: type the name you want and click Save.
Singapore: the field is shown greyed out. It is the display name from your payment application. To change it, contact support.
Enter the serial number
Find the Serial Number on the label on the back of the Soundbox.
Type it into the Serial Number field.
Click Save.
Do not edit this field unless you are replacing the device. A wrong serial number stops the Soundbox from showing your QR code. If the serial number is wrong or missing, the Soundbox shows an error on its screen.
Set the announcement language

In Soundbox Settings, open the Soundbox Language list and pick the language.
Click Save.
Only one language can be active at a time. Malay and Chinese announcements need recent Soundbox firmware; if the language does not change on the device after you save, contact support to check its firmware version.
What the announcement sounds like
Chinese (Malaysia, RM): the amount is read in Chinese numerals, the decimals are read digit by digit, followed by 令吉.
RM 1.00 = 收款一点零零令吉
RM 12.35 = 收款十二点三五令吉
RM 345.67 = 收款三百四十五点六七令吉
RM 1,234.56 = 收款一千二百三十四点五六令吉
RM 20,000.50 = 收款二万点五零令吉
Chinese (Singapore, SGD): same pattern, followed by 元.
SGD 1.00 = 收款一点零零元
SGD 22.35 = 收款二十二点三五元
SGD 345.67 = 收款三百四十五点六七元
SGD 1,234.56 = 收款一千二百三十四点五六元
SGD 20,000.50 = 收款二万点五零元
Malay (Malaysia, RM): Terima [ribu] [ratus] [puluh / belas] ringgit [sen]. Tens use "puluh" (2 puluh = 20) and 11 to 19 use "belas" (3 belas = 13). Sen is left out when it is zero.
RM 1.00 = Terima satu ringgit
RM 12.35 = Terima dua belas ringgit tiga puluh lima sen
RM 40.40 = Terima empat puluh ringgit empat puluh sen
RM 345.67 = Terima tiga ratus empat puluh lima ringgit enam puluh tujuh sen
RM 1,234.56 = Terima seribu dua ratus tiga puluh empat ringgit lima puluh enam sen
RM 20,000.50 = Terima dua puluh ribu ringgit lima puluh sen
If something goes wrong
Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
"This serial number is already in use. Please try another." | The serial number is linked to another Soundbox store | Check the label on the back of the device. If it is correct, contact support to move the serial number. |
Soundbox Settings is not shown under Devices | Your account is not on the Soundbox plan, or no Soundbox store has been created yet | Contact support. |
Red dot on Settings | A Soundbox has no serial number saved | Enter the serial number and click Save. |
Error on the Soundbox screen | Serial number wrong or missing | Compare the Serial Number field with the label on the back of the device, correct it and click Save. |
Language does not change | Firmware too old, or the wrong Soundbox selected | Check SoundBox Store, save again, restart the Soundbox. If it still does not change, contact support. |
