How to Insert a SIM Card into the QashierXS (White)

The QashierXS can connect to the internet over Wi-Fi or through a mobile-data SIM card. This guide shows how to put a SIM card into the white QashierXS so it can use mobile data.

Applies to: All markets · White QashierXS · No PIN needed.

Before you start

  • A SIM card with an active mobile-data plan.

  • The slot takes a standard-size SIM. If your SIM is micro or nano, put it in a standard-size SIM adapter first, or ask your telco for a standard-size card.

  • Not every telco's SIM works in the terminal. If you are unsure, check with your local support agent before buying a plan.

Insert the SIM card

  1. Turn the terminal off: press and hold the power button on the left side, choose the option to power off, and wait until the screen goes dark.

  2. Find the latch at the back of the terminal and open the back cover.

  3. Take out the battery.

  4. Insert the SIM card into the slot labelled SIM (marked in red in the photo below). Do not use the SIM/SAM slots or the Micro SD slot.

  5. Put the battery back, clip the back cover shut, then press and hold the power button to turn the terminal on.

Step 4: the SIM slot, marked in red.

What you should see

After the terminal starts, the top of the screen shows signal bars and a mobile-data indicator (such as 4G or LTE). The POS uses mobile data whenever Wi-Fi is off or out of range.

If support has turned on the hotspot option for your terminal, the ☰ menu also shows Hotspot, which lets other devices share the SIM's data connection.

If something goes wrong

Symptom

Likely cause

Fix

No signal bars or no mobile-data indicator

The SIM has no active data plan, or it is in the wrong slot

Check the plan with your telco. Open the back again and make sure the card is in the slot labelled SIM, not a SIM/SAM or Micro SD slot.

Signal shows, but the POS cannot reach the internet

The mobile connection is stuck, or Wi-Fi is still trying to connect

Turn the terminal off and on again. Tap ☰ > Wifi and disconnect from any Wi-Fi network. If your terminal lets you open the network settings, turn Airplane mode on, wait a few minutes, turn it off, and check that mobile data is on. If you cannot reach these settings, contact Qashier Support to enable settings access on your terminal.

The SIM does not sit in the holder

It is a micro or nano SIM

Use a standard-size SIM adapter, or get a standard-size card from your telco.

Still stuck

SIM or hardware fault
