A promotion bucket applies a quantity deal, such as "Buy 2 Get 1 Free", automatically when a customer buys enough of the products in the bucket. This article shows you how to create, edit and delete promotion buckets on Qashier POS, and what happens at checkout.
Applies to
Markets: all markets. Amounts are in your store's currency, even though the field label shows "$".
Product: Qashier POS. You can also manage promotion buckets in QashierHQ.
Access: the Terminal PIN, if your store has one.
Before you start
Promotion buckets must be turned on for your store. If you do not see Manage Promotions in the Qashier POS menu, contact Qashier support to ask about turning them on.
Qashier POS supports one trigger per bucket. To set up tiered deals with several triggers, use QashierHQ. See How to Create a Promotion Bucket in QashierHQ.
A product can only be in one promotion bucket at a time.
Create a promotion bucket
On the Qashier POS main page, tap the menu icon (☰) at the top right.
Tap Manage Promotions.
If asked, enter the Terminal PIN and tap Confirm.
Tap Create Promotion Bucket.
Fill in all three fields:
Bucket Name: the name of the deal, for example "Buy 2 Get 1 Free".
Trigger Quantity: how many items from the bucket the customer must buy for the deal to apply.
Discount dollar amount ($): the fixed amount taken off for each full set of trigger items.
Tap Assign Products.
Tap the products you want in the bucket. You can search for a product by name.
Tap Confirm Create.
A Create Successful message appears, and the bucket shows as a tile on the Promotion Bucket screen.
How the discount is calculated
All products in the bucket count together, so customers can mix them.
The discount is a fixed amount, applied once for every full set. It is not "cheapest item free".
Items added as part of a combo do not count towards the bucket.
If a manual discount plus the bucket discount would be more than the bill subtotal, the bucket discount is not applied.
Example: for "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" on an item priced at 5.00, set Trigger Quantity to 3 and Discount dollar amount ($) to 5.00. A customer who buys 3 gets 5.00 off. A customer who buys 6 gets 10.00 off.
Apply a promotion bucket at checkout
You do not need to select the promotion. It applies automatically.
On the main page, tap POS & Payment.
Add the products that are in the bucket, up to at least the Trigger Quantity. For "Buy 2 Get 1 Free", add 3 items.
Check the Bill Discount line. The bucket discount is applied automatically.
Tap Pay and take payment as usual.
The receipt shows Promo: followed by the bucket name.
Edit a promotion bucket
Tap the menu icon (☰) > Manage Promotions, and enter the Terminal PIN if asked.
Tap the bucket.
Change the name, trigger quantity or discount, or tap Assign Products to change the products.
Tap Confirm Edit.
Important: edit buckets that have several triggers in QashierHQ only. Saving them on Qashier POS keeps just one trigger and removes the others.
Delete a promotion bucket
Tap the menu icon (☰) > Manage Promotions, and enter the Terminal PIN if asked.
Press and hold the bucket you want to delete.
In the Please Confirm Delete window, tap Yes.
