Summary: If your Qashier POS is connected to the TP-Link 4G router's Wi-Fi but has no internet, the router may not have the right APN (Access Point Name) for its SIM card. This guide shows Singapore merchants how to add the APN profile so the router gets online.
Applies to: Singapore · the TP-Link 4G SIM router supplied by Qashier (the steps below were recorded on a TP-Link TL-MR6400; other TP-Link 4G models have similar menus).
Is this the right guide?
Use this guide if your POS or phone is connected to the router's Wi-Fi but web pages do not load, and the router's status page shows the Internet as not connected (a red X).
If you cannot see the router's Wi-Fi at all, check that the router is powered on and use the network name and password printed on the back of the router. See [SG] How to Set Up the TP-Link 4G SIM Router.
Before you start
The SIM card is inserted and the router is powered on.
Your phone or laptop is connected to the router's Wi-Fi (network name and password are on the back of the router).
You know the router's admin password. If you are logging in for the first time, you will create one. If Qashier set up your router for you, contact support for the password.
You know the APN for your SIM card (see step 8).
Steps
Open a browser and go to tplinkmodem.net or 192.168.1.1. These addresses only work while you are connected to the router's Wi-Fi.
If the browser shows a security warning such as "Your connection is not private", tap Advanced and continue to the site.
Log in with the router's admin password. First time: create your own strong password and keep it somewhere safe.
Click Let's Get Started. If the Quick Setup wizard opens, click Exit.
On the top navigation bar, click Advanced.
In the left menu, click Network, then Internet.
Near the bottom of the page, click Create Profile.
Enter the profile details for your SIM card. The APN is a short code set by your mobile carrier; it is not the carrier's brand name. For the SIM card bundled by Qashier, the setup walkthrough used: Profile Name giga · APN giga · PDP Type IPv4 · APN Type Static · Authentication None. If your SIM card is from another carrier, use the APN printed on the SIM pack or published by that carrier, or ask support.
Click OK.
Under Dial-up Settings, open the Profile Name dropdown, select the profile you just created, then click Save.
Wait about a minute. The Internet Status changes from "Detecting..." to Connected.
On Qashier POS, open the side menu (☰), tap Wifi, and reconnect to the 4G router's Wi-Fi.
What you should see
The router's status page shows Internet Status: Connected, and the POS can sync and take payments again.
If something goes wrong
Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
Internet Status still shows not connected (red X) | The APN does not match the SIM card, or the new profile was not selected | Check the APN with your carrier. Under Dial-up Settings make sure the new profile is selected in Profile Name, then click Save. Restart the router. |
Internet Status shows Connected but the POS is still offline | The POS is holding the old connection | On the POS, open Wifi, disconnect from the router and connect again, or restart the POS. |
No mobile signal or the SIM is not detected | The SIM card is not seated properly, or its data plan is not active | Switch the router off, re-insert the SIM card, switch it on. Check with your carrier that the data plan is active. |
Cannot log in to the router | Wrong admin password | Contact Qashier Support. |
