This guide takes you from unboxing your Qashier tablet to a working kitchen display or ordering tablet: switch it on, charge it, connect it to Wi-Fi, log in to Qashier POS and open the Kitchen Display (KDS) or Waiter Display (WDS).
Applies to: Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand · Qashier POS on the tablets Qashier supplies: QashierKDS (10", Samsung Galaxy Tab A8) and QashierTab (8", Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite) · Kitchen Display System (KDS) or Waiter Display System (WDS) add-on for a display tablet · Terminal PIN to exit the display. Screen sizes and models can differ by market; the steps are the same. Your charger plug may look different depending on your country.
Before you start
Each tablet counts as a device on your plan. Check your plan's device allowance before adding tablets.
For a KDS or WDS tablet, the Kitchen Display System or Waiter Display System add-on must be active for your store. You can check this under Qashier Marketplace in QashierHQ, or chat with us to activate it.
Have your store Wi-Fi name and password, and your QashierHQ login, ready.
1. What's in the box
Tablet
USB charging cable
Power adapter
2. Switch on the tablet
Press and hold the top button on the right side of the tablet (the power button) until the screen lights up (see the animation below).
3. Charge the tablet
Connect the USB cable to the charging port on the bottom edge of the tablet and plug the adapter into a power socket. Keep a display tablet on power during service so it does not switch off mid-shift.
4. Connect to Wi-Fi
Open the tablet's Android Settings and go to Wi-Fi.
Select your store's Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
Use the same network as your main POS terminal, so orders reach the display without delay.
The 8" QashierTab sold in Malaysia is an LTE model. Wi-Fi is still the recommended connection; ask your local support team before using a SIM card in it.
5. Open Qashier POS and log in
Open the Qashier POS app on the tablet. If the app is not installed, see How to Install Qashier POS on Your Own Android Phone or Tablet.
Log in with your QashierHQ email and password.
Select the store this tablet belongs to.
6. Turn the tablet into a kitchen or waiter display
On the POS home screen, tap ☰ (top right).
Tap Open Kitchen Display for a KDS tablet, or Open Waiter Display for a WDS tablet.
The display opens and shows the orders waiting to be prepared.
To leave the display, tap the back icon (<) at the bottom of the screen and enter your Terminal PIN if asked. See How to Open and Exit the Kitchen Display (KDS) on Qashier POS.
If you do not see Open Kitchen Display or Open Waiter Display in the menu, the add-on is not active for your store or this tablet has not been registered as a display yet. Contact Qashier Support.
7. Send the right products to the display
Orders only appear on a KDS when the products are assigned to it. In QashierHQ, go to Product Management, open each product and set KDS Selection to the display that should receive it, then save. See How to Assign Products to a Kitchen Display (KDS) in QashierHQ.
Using the QashierTab as an ordering tablet
An 8" QashierTab that is not set up as a display runs Qashier POS like any other device logged in to your store. Staff take orders on it, and its sales are recorded under the same store.
What you should see
A KDS tablet shows new orders as tiles as soon as they are placed on the POS. When there is nothing to prepare, it shows an empty-screen picture instead of order tiles.
An ordering tablet shows the normal Qashier POS home screen for your store.
If something goes wrong
Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
Tablet does not switch on | Battery flat | Charge it for at least 30 minutes, then press and hold the power button again |
KDS shows no order tiles after orders are placed | Products not assigned to this display, or tablet logged in to a different store | Check KDS Selection on the products in QashierHQ (assign products to the KDS) and that the tablet is logged in to the same store as the POS |
Open Kitchen Display is missing from the ☰ menu | Add-on not active, or tablet not registered as a display | |
Orders arrive late or not at all | Tablet offline or on a different Wi-Fi network | Reconnect the tablet to the same Wi-Fi as the POS and restart the Qashier POS app |
Tablets sold in Malaysia carry a 6-month warranty. For warranty terms in other markets, or a hardware fault, contact your local support team.
