Using the Qashier KDS & WDS Screen: Order Summary, Tile Colours and Completed Orders

The Qashier Kitchen Display (KDS) and Waiter Display (WDS) show every open order as a tile, colour-coded by how long it has been waiting, with an Order Summary sidebar that totals what to prepare. This guide explains how to read the screen, mark orders done and bring back completed orders.

Applies to: All markets · Qashier POS on a display tablet · Kitchen Display System (KDS) or Waiter Display System (WDS) add-on. The KDS and WDS screens look and work the same way.

Before you start

1. Open the display

  1. On the Qashier POS home screen of the display tablet, tap ☰.

  2. Tap Open Kitchen Display (KDS) or Open Waiter Display (WDS).

2. Read an order tile

Each order appears as a tile. At the top of the tile you see:

  • The order number: the table (for example T5), the queue number (for example Q12), or the pager number (for example P3). Takeaway orders placed through Treats Ordering without a table show their Treats order number in the queue-number format.

  • The order time and wait time, for example the time placed followed by (8m).

  • The order type tag: Dine In, Takeaway, Pickup or Delivery. Pickup and Delivery tags also show the pickup or delivery time.

  • A GrabFood or foodpanda logo next to the order type when the order comes from that delivery platform, so you can spot delivery orders at a glance.

The tile colour shows how long the order has been waiting:

Tile colour

Order waiting for

Blue

Less than 5 minutes

Yellow

5 to 15 minutes

Red

More than 15 minutes

These time limits are set in the app and cannot be changed.

3. Use the Order Summary sidebar

The Order Summary sidebar on the right of the screen is open when the display starts. It lists the total quantity of each product across all open orders (for example "6 x Pork Burger"), so you know how much to prepare. The number next to Order Summary is the total quantity of items still to prepare across all open orders.

  1. Tap a product in the sidebar. The product is highlighted in yellow on every tile that contains it.

  2. Tap the same product again to remove the highlight.

  3. To make more room for tiles, tap the Order Summary title to collapse the sidebar. Tap it again to open it.

4. Print or finish an order

Each tile has two buttons:

  • Print prints the order ticket again.

  • Done opens the Mark order as done pop-up. Tap Confirm to mark the whole order as completed (on the WDS, as served) and remove it from the active screen.

You can also tap a single item on a tile to strike it off when it is ready. See How to Mark Orders as Done on the Qashier KDS.

5. View and recall completed orders

  1. Make sure the Order Summary sidebar is open, then tap Completed orders.

  2. The screen background turns green and VIEWING COMPLETED ORDERS appears at the bottom left. Completed orders are shown as tiles.

  3. To send an order back to the active queue, tap Recall on its tile, then tap Confirm.

  4. Tap Incomplete orders to go back to the active orders.

What you should see

  • New orders appear as blue tiles and change colour as they wait.

  • Orders you mark Done leave the active screen and appear under Completed orders.

  • A recalled order returns to the active screen.

  • When there are no open orders, the tile area is empty and shows an animation instead of tiles.
