A promotion bucket is an automatic quantity deal, such as "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" or "Buy 2 Get 1 Free". You choose a group of products, how many of them the customer must buy, and how much to take off. This article shows you how to set one up in QashierHQ.

Applies to

Markets: all markets. Amounts are in your store's currency.
Product: QashierHQ (Product Management). Promotion buckets are applied on Qashier POS.
Access: a QashierHQ user with access to Product Management.

Before you start

Promotion buckets are set up per store. Select the store first.
If you do not see the Promotion Bucket button on the Product Management page, promotion buckets are not turned on for that store. Contact Qashier support to ask about turning them on.
The products you want in the deal must already exist in Product Management.
A product can only be in one promotion bucket at a time.

Create a promotion bucket

In the QashierHQ left sidebar, under Products & Inventory, click Product Management.
Select your store from the store picker.
Click Promotion Bucket in the row of buttons at the top of the page. The Promotion Bucket window opens.
Click Add Promotion Bucket. The Create Promotion Bucket window opens.

Enter a name for the deal in Bucket Name, for example "Buy 1 Get 1 Free".

Under Triggers, fill in the first row:
- Trigger Quantity: how many items from the bucket the customer must buy for the deal to apply. Whole numbers only.
- Discount Dollar Amount: the fixed amount taken off for each full set of trigger items, not a percentage. Up to 2 decimal places.
Optional: to offer a different discount at another quantity, click Add Triggers and fill in the new row. Enter the triggers from the smallest quantity to the largest. Each Trigger Quantity must be different, and you can add up to 30 triggers.

Under Promotion Items, click Add/Edit Items.
In the Excluded list, click each product you want in the deal. It moves to the Included list.
When you have added all the products, click Confirm at the top right.
A reminder asks you to press Save to finish. Click OK.
Click Save at the top right of the Create Promotion Bucket window.

If a product is missing from the Excluded list, it is probably already in another promotion bucket. Remove it from that bucket first.

What you should see

The new bucket appears in the Promotion Bucket list with its name, trigger quantity, discount and number of items. A bucket with more than one trigger shows Multiple Triggers. On Qashier POS, the discount is applied when the customer's order has enough items from the bucket.

How the price is calculated

All products in the bucket count together, so customers can mix them. The discount is applied once for every full set. For example, with a Trigger Quantity of 3, six items get the discount twice.

Examples

For an item priced at 19.90:

Buy 1 Get 1 Free: Trigger Quantity 2, Discount Dollar Amount 19.90.
Buy 1, get 10% off the 2nd item: Trigger Quantity 2, Discount Dollar Amount 1.99.

Edit or delete a promotion bucket

Go to Product Management, select the store and click Promotion Bucket.
Click the bucket in the list.
To edit it, change the name, triggers or items, then click Save.
To delete it, click the delete (bin) icon next to the bucket name, then click Confirm.

Edit buckets with more than one trigger in QashierHQ, not on Qashier POS. The POS supports one trigger per bucket.

If something goes wrong

What you see	Likely cause	What to do
No Promotion Bucket button on Product Management	No store selected, or promotion buckets are not turned on for the store	Select the store. If the button is still missing, contact Qashier support.
A product is not in the Excluded list	It is already in another promotion bucket	Remove it from the other bucket, then add it here.
"Duplicate trigger" or "Integers only"	Two triggers have the same quantity, or a quantity has decimals	Use a different whole number for each trigger.
"Please enter only 2 decimals"	The discount has more than 2 decimal places	Round the discount to 2 decimal places.
"You must have at least 1 trigger."	All trigger rows were deleted	Click Add Triggers and fill in a row.
